Nothing that takes place on a Fox network should surprise us anymore. But a lapdance by the Patriot’s Rob Gronkowski on the Fox sports reporter Julie Stewart-Binks has created a controversial discussion amongst sports reporters.
ESPN’s Dana O’Neil sent a tweet registering her offense at a nationally televised sexually-driven lap dance by Gronk over Fox’s thrilled Stewart-Binks.
Then came S-B’s spitting, spluttering charges that she was being “slut-shamed” by fellow female sports reporters and that she’s actually a feminist in the realm of Eleanor Roosevelt.
Uh, huh.
The last time we found ourselves doing the Tijuana tourist thing we stumbled into a below-ground bar and witnessed drunks getting ugly lap dances from listless hookers – and we talked shamefully toward those old drunks getting lap dances. (Then made a fast exit.)
Hey, Julie Stewart-Binks. Just because it’s a multi-millionaire frat boy Patriot doing the lap dance, it doesn’t excuse the sleaze factor.
Real female sports journalists like Dana O’Neil who’ve toiled in the trenches for years, worked at their craft and constantly run up against the ingrained sexist attitudes in the billion dollar sports industry, well, they see clips of their female counterparts on networks like Fox Sports who set themselves up to literally get dry-humped by NFL players, they have to just scratch their heads at the disconnect of people like Stewart-Binks.
Now, as far as this term “slut-shaming” is concerned…logically, we’re given to assume this implies one shouldn’t be shamed for acting like a slut? That as a national sports reporter for Fox Sports Stewart-Binks is demanding her right to act slutty on national TV?
Let’s take the sexist angle out of this and change the dictionary.
Men can be sluts, too. And, therefore, should be held accountable.
Maybe O’Neil should have condemned Gronkowski the slut, as well?
Let us be the first one to do so. Rob Gronkowski is an immature arse and has been coddled by the national press for too long and yeah, creepy lap dances on ANY women on national TV is just plain slutty male behavior. We could go further and say it was aggressive sexual assault. But it was a Fox Sport channel.
And that kind of slutty stuff could only happen on a slutty network owned by that creepy old Rupert Murdoch.
